First class dude all the way.
Wonderful story.
As Mr.Sully once said when stating a player injury as “day to day.”
“But then again, aren’t we all.”
It is sad that it takes Stan Musial’s passing for people to realize what a great player he was. In my book he is one of the top five hitters in baseball history along with Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig and Ty Cobb. If he had hit one more HR in 1948, he would have won the Triple Crown, and would have had the single most dominant offensive season ever. The fact that he played in St. Louis, was controversy free, and all his world Series appearances were pre- TV all contributed to his lack of notoriety.
Yet he seems to have made a much bigger impact as a person than as a ballplayer. Just hearing the comments about his character from former players as well as Albert Pujols, speaks volumes.
Maybe we should be reading stories about Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, Al Kaline, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Frank and Brooks Robinson, among others, before they pass.
Maybe we should all enjoy every day a little more, after all, as Mr. Scully said, we are all day to day.
